Carina Dos Santos, Brasil.
Graduada en periodismo, Carina realiza sus producciones en el campo audiovisual, como cine y fotografía, donde busca conciliar temas de la realidad política con una construcción poética. Con una experiencia militante en Venezuela y Mina Gerais, se interesa particularmente por el cruce entre feminismos, realidades indígenas y lucha medioambiental.
Graduated in journalism, Carina makes her productions in the audiovisual field, such as film and photography, where she seeks to reconcile issues of political reality with a poetic construction. She is particularly interested in the intersection between feminisms, indigenous realities and environmental struggle.
Elise Youssoufian, Armenia-EEUU.
Como mujer, música, poeta, maestra y activista artística, y como miembro de la diáspora armenia cuya familia ha estado en la lucha por mucho tiempo, Elise se siente profundamente conmovida por los movimientos de liberación en curso y de gran alcance que tienen lugar dentro y más allá de los pueblos indígenas.
As a woman, musician, poet, teacher, and arts activist, and as a member of the Armenian diaspora whose family has long been in the struggle, Elise is deeply moved by the ongoing and far-reaching liberation movements taking place within and beyond Indigenous Peoples’ communities.
Con una larga trayectoria en producciones audiovisuales y artísticas, es en el campo del documental donde están sus principales desafíos antipatriarcales, contrahegemónicos y no-jerárquicos. Las luchas de mujeres organizadas por defender sus cuerpos y territorios son parte central de su actual proyecto en la Maestría de Estudios Visuales.
With a long career in audiovisual and artistic productions, it’s in the field of documentary that hers main antipatriarchal, counterhegemonic and non-hierarchical challenges are. The struggles of women organized to defend their bodies and territories are a central part of their current project in the Master of Visual Studies.
Es una músico que se enfoca en aplicar el sonido como un hilo de conexión dentro de las comunidades y también desde el yo hacia el mundo. Nina crea música con la sanación como base de la intención, y el siguiente paso más pertinente para ella es entender cómo expandir las cualidades de curación personal e interpersonal de la música hacia un marco mental más global.
She is a musician who focuses on applying sound as a thread of connection within communities, and also from the self to the world. Nina creates music with healing as the basis of intention, and the most pertinent next step for her is to understand how to expand the self and interpersonal healing qualities of music toward a more globally minded-framework.
Martha fue la artista local becada por GIAP para ser parte de la Residencia. Perteneciente al grupo etno-lingüístico Zoque de la región de Chiapas, se desempeña como gestora cultural y asistente general de la Galería MUY en San Cristóbal de las Casas. Es además ceramista y participa activamente en la defensa del territorio zoque ante las afrentas de las mineras.
Martha was the local artist granted a scholarship by GIAP to be part of the Residence. Belonging to the Zoque ethno-linguistic group of the Chiapas region, she works as cultural manager and general assistant on Galería MUY in San Cristóbal de las Casas. She is also a ceramist and actively participates in the defense of the Zoque territory.
Artista visual, diseñadora de vestuario y docente en la Universidad Provincial de Córdoba. Constanza, en un intento por explorar nuevas cartografías del hacer, frecuentemente se involucra en proyectos transdisciplinarios que le permiten abordar los vínculos experienciales del cuerpo y el vestuario a partir del trabajo colaborativo.
Visual artist, costume designer and teacher at the Provincial University of Córdoba. Constanza, in an attempt to explore new cartographies of doing, frequently gets involved in transdisciplinary projects that allow her to approach the experiential links of the body and the costumes through collaborative work.
Psicóloga y Magíster en Ingeniería de Producción, militante a cargo de procesos agroecológicos en Mina Gerais, en los últimos años ha surgido en ella el interés por la estética, la ancestralidad y la producción simbólica desde abajo, y en cómo estos elementos pueden influir y determinar una serie de factores al interior de los movimientos sociales.
Psychologist and Master in Production Engineering, militant in charge of agro-ecological processes in Mina Gerais, in recent years there has been an interest in aesthetics, ancestry and symbolic production from below, and how these elements can influence and determine a series of factors within social movements.

Victoria es artista-terapeuta, interesada en las cosmovisiones indígenas, las tradiciones ancestrales y los rituales. Gran parte de su trabajo surge de su relación con el entorno y la naturaleza.
Victoria is an artist-therapist, interested in indigenous cosmovisions, ancestral traditions, and rituals. Much of her work arises from his relationship with the environment and nature.
Marianne Villière, Francia.
Su trabajo se centra en desarrollar un enfoque que cuestione el espacio de la vida cotidiana. Es a través de la observación y la composición de las posturas performativas que intenta poner en juego la esfera pública como una experiencia compartida.
Her work is focused on developing an approach that questions everyday urban space. It is through observation and the composition of performative postures that she attempts to put the public sphere into play as a shared experience.
Raymundo López, Chiapas.
Ray es un joven talento del arte gráfico, hablante de tsotsil y miembro del pueblo de San Andrés Sakamchen. Es egresado de la Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas (UNICACH), titulado en 2017. Maneja y manipula significados interculturales de la pos-modernidad maya. Fue becado por GIAP para la residencia.
Ray is a young talent of graphic art, speaker of tsotsil and member of the town of San Andrés Sakamchen. He’s graduated from the University of Arts and Sciences of Chiapas (UNICACH) in 2017. He manages and manipulates intercultural meanings of Mayan post-modernity. He was awarded a scholarship by GIAP for the residence.

Lea Marie Maison está completando un doctorado en la Facultad de Artes y Educación de la Universidad de Stavanger, Noruega. Tj Demos es profesor en el Departamento de Historia del Arte y Cultura Visual de la Universidad de Santa Cruz, California, donde también es Director del Departamento de Ecologías Creativas. Curador y autor de numerosos libros, fue invitado por GIAP a co-dirigir esta residencia.
Tj Demos is a professor at the Department of Art History and Visual Cultures of the University of Santa Cruz, California, where he is also director of the Department of Creative Ecologies. Curator and author of numerous books, TJ Demos was invited by GIAP to co-direct the residence.
THIAGO MARTINS DE MELO, Brasil.
Thiago es un artista brasileño representado en México por la Galería GAMMA de Rodrigo Campuzano. Licendiado también en sicología, tiene a su haber una larga trayectoria de exposiciones y premios. Su arte, barroco salvaje, denuncia el despojo en América Latina.
Thiago is a Brazilian artist. In Mexico, he is represented by the GAMMA Gallery of Rodrigo Campuzano. Trained as a psychologist, he has a long history of exhibitions and awards. His art, baroque and wild, denounces forms of dispossession in Latin America.
BEATRIZ MILLON, España.
Beatriz es una artista catalana radicada en México, cuyo trabajo se entremezcla con las acciones de las comunidades locales para resistir a las mineras, el fracking y la explotación de los recursos naturales. Durante la residencia avanzó en su proyecto de «turismo ecológico» en Chiapas.
Beatriz is a Catalan artist based in Mexico, whose work is intertwined with the resistance of rural communities against mining, fracking and the exploitation of natural resources. During the residency, she further developed her «ecological tourism» project.
ANTONIO PAUCAR, Perú.
Antonio es un artista que vive entre los pueblos andinos del Perú, de donde es originario, y Berlín, donde se encuentra la galería que lo representa. Su poderoso trabajo de performance y video cruza elementos rituales, sagrados y de denuncia. Desafía los cánones actuales del arte contemporáneo con la «indianización» de los procesos creativos.
Antonio is an artist coming from the Peruvian Andes, and living part of the year in Berlin, where the gallery that represents him is located. His powerful work of performance and video involves ritual, sacred, and denounce elements. He challenges the current canons of contemporary art with the «indigenization» of creative processes.
VANESSA TREPP, Bolivia.
Vane ha vivido en muchos países, entre esos, México que es su actual hogar. Su trabajo pictórico combina esos diversos paisajes con los cuestionamientos sociales y humanos. Actualmente realiza un documental sobre el «Sueño Mexicano»: gringos viviendo ilegal y felizmente en México.
Vane has lived in many countries, among them, Mexico, which is her current home. Her pictorial work combines these diverse landscapes with social and human questions. She is currently making a documentary about the «Mexican Dream» of «gringos» living illegally in Mexico.
JEANETTE PETRIK, Holanda.
Jeannette, de origen cubano-alemán, es escritora, investigadora y diseñadora interesada en la cultura al margen o fuera de lo que se considera «el mainstream» y su posición en contraste con la cultura popular. Se interesa por el diálogo o la ausencia de éste en la figura del visitante o turista.
Of Cuban-German origin, Jeannette is a writer, researcher, and designer interested in cultures at the margin and outside «the mainstream» – including popular culture. She is interested in how the figure of the tourist-visitor often manifests such contradictions.
CONNIE ZHENG, EE.UU
Connie, de origen chino, es una artista radicada en Estados Unidos desde muy pequeña. Su trabajo busca considerar la naturaleza tensa de la hibridación
producida por el encuentro colonial, el diálogo entre lo cultural y la colinización ecológica y los límites problemáticos entre espacios interiores y exteriores.
Connie is an artist of Chinese background based in the United States since she was very young. Her work seeks to consider the consequences and nature of the colonial encounter, the dialogue between cultures and forms of ecological colonization, and the precarious boundaries existing between interior and exterior spaces.
DANIELA CAMPOS, Argentina.
Daniela es fotógrafa, productora cultural y activista feminista. Su trabajo visual ha buscado establecer un campo del miedo entre el cuerpo y el medio ambiente, donde el rol de la mujer está en permanente cuestionamiento. Esta es su 2da residencia en CASA GIAP.
Daniela is a photographer, cultural producer, and feminist activist. Her visual work has sought to establish a connection between the body and the environment, where the role of women is constantly questioned. This is her second residence at CASA GIAP.
EMMA FUENTES, EE.UU
Emma es profesora de la Universidad de San Francisco, California, donde forma parte del departamento de Educacion Internacional y Multicultural en la Facultad de Educación. Se interesa por el proceso de auto-formación y educación popular, relacionado con movimientos sociales y cómo el arte es el corazón de estos procesos.
Emma is a professor at the University of San Francisco, where she is part of the Department of International and Multicultural Education at the Faculty of Education. She is interested in the processes of self and popular education, also in relation to social movements – and in how art might shape such processes.
SAUL KAK, Chiapas.
Saúl fue nuestro artista local indígena becado por GIAP gracias a nuestro convenio con la Galería MUY que lo representa. Saúl es originario de la etnia zoque, pintor y como cineasta, co-director del film «The Modern Jungle». Miembro del Congreso Nacional Indigena, activista, y creador al servicio de su pueblo.
Saúl was our local artist awarded a full scholarship in agreement with the MUY Gallery that represents him. Saúl comes from the Zoque region and ethnic group. He is a painter, filmmaker, and co-director of the film «The Modern Jungle». He is a member of the National Indigenous Congress and a creator at the service of his people.

Daniela es fotógrafa, comunicadora social, organizadora del Festival «A cada uno su Cine» en la Ciudad de Mendoza, Argentina. Feminista, se interesa en establecer un campo del miedo entre el cuerpo y el medio ambiente, donde el rol de la mujer está en permanente cuestionamiento. Esta fue la primera de dos residencias que ella realizó en CASA GIAP y el paso previo para radicarse en Chiapas.
Daniela is a photographer, social communicator, organizer of the Festival «A cada uno su Cine» in the City of Mendoza, Argentina. Feminist, is interested in establishing a field of fear between the body and the environment, where the role of women is in constant questioning. This was the first of two residences that she carried out at CASA GIAP and the previous step to settle in Chiapas.
